Shenzhen, China - HanWei Laser has introduced the full-featured spot-ring laser welder, a welding source built around a beam architecture the company develops in house: the centre spot and the outer ring can be adjusted independently, in real time, on the production floor. The result is a welding tool that adapts to the joint instead of forcing the joint to adapt to the tool.
In a conventional single-spot laser, all the energy arrives through one small circle. The centre of the molten pool overheats while the edges stay cold, and that temperature gradient is the root cause of spatter, undercut and porosity. A ring-shaped beam surrounds the centre spot with a second, independently controlled energy band, pre-heating the metal around the keyhole and flattening the temperature profile across the pool.
What makes the HanWei full-featured unit different is that the inner and outer rings are separately adjustable rather than fixed in a factory ratio. Welding engineers can dial in a narrow, penetrating core for deep joints, then open the outer ring to calm the pool on thin gauge material, without changing the welding head or the programme structure.

The full-featured spot-ring laser welder is aimed at manufacturers whose joints are not uniform: battery tabs and busbars, aluminium and copper structural parts, hardware and kitchenware, elevator panels, corrugated pipe, optical communication housings, jewellery and mould repair. Because the beam shape is a process setting rather than a fixed hardware choice, a single installation can serve several product lines and absorb new jobs without a new laser head.
