HanWei Releases Blue Light Laser Welding Head for Copper Gold and Silver High Reflectivity Welding

HanWei Releases Blue Light Laser Welding Head for High Reflectivity Materials

HanWei Laser has officially released its blue light laser welding head, a 450nm blue diode laser torch designed specifically for metals that infrared laser cannot weld reliably. The product is fully developed, manufactured and sold by HanWei Laser, covering optical path design, wobble control, wire feeding and the control system, which means every unit leaves the factory with matched parameters and direct factory support behind it.

The launch answers a long standing production problem in copper, gold and silver processing: infrared laser energy is reflected away by these metals at room temperature, so welders are forced into unstable processes with heavy spatter, porosity and frequent lens damage.

Key advantages of the blue light laser welding head
  • Independent research, manufacturing and sales: optical path, wobble unit, wire feeder and control software are all self developed by HanWei Laser, so weld parameters can be customized to individual customer processes without third party bottlenecks.
  • Reliable welding of high reflectivity materials: copper, gold, silver, as well as nickel, aluminium can be welded with stable penetration, low porosity and repeatable quality batch after batch.
  • Spatter free and highly stable: closed loop process control together with an optimized beam profile keeps the keyhole steady, cutting spatter to almost zero, protecting the protective lens and keeping long shifts consistent.
  • Smooth seams with good appearance: the finished bead is uniform with fine ripples and requires little or no post grinding, which directly reduces polishing labor and scrap rate.
  • Single side welding, double side forming: full penetration is achieved from one accessible side while both sides show a clean formed seam, ideal for busbars, battery tabs, tubes and thin plate overlap joints.

Where it is used

The head is already running in copper busbar and laminated busbar welding, battery tab and module interconnection, motor hairpin and stator winding welding, connectors and heat sinks, sensor housings, thin wall copper tubes, and gold and silver jewelry repair and joining. Customers switching from infrared only welding typically report fewer reworked parts, longer lens life and a shorter parameter tuning cycle, because blue light gives a much wider process window on reflective surfaces.

Availability and support

Standard configurations are available in 7 to 15 working days. HanWei Laser provides welding sample testing before shipment and remote parameter setup. Spare protective lenses, focus lenses and nozzles are kept in stock for fast after sales response.

"Our goal with the blue light welding head was simple: give production engineers a welding tool that behaves the same on copper as it does on stainless steel. Self development from the optical module to the control software is what makes that stability possible."
